When doing the shopping, it has become a reflex: we take a look at the list of ingredients that make up our favorite foods before placing them in the shopping cart. And when you want to lose weight, we will tend to favor the products less rich in sugars, saturated fatty acids, vegetable oils... to limit calorie intake.
Problem: according to a recent study by the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (Germany), lipid, carbohydrate and protein would not be the only ones guiltyof our weight. Packaging - those that directly surround industrial products - would also have the power to make us grow.
Phthalates increase blood levels of fatty acids
Researchers point particularly finger phthalates, chemical compounds present in some plastics. They have already accused disrupt fertility, endocrine system and the development of the fetus and newborn.
A test was conducted on a group of mice: for several weeks, group 1 rodents drankwater artificially polluted to phthalates.
Result, in the end, the researchers found a significant weight difference between group 1 mice and other - non contaminated by phthalates. According to scientists, thisdifference could be explained by the fact that phthalates (which are endocrine disrupters) would increase the rate of fatty acids in the blood.
