Seniors retirement would take positive life decisions. Smoking cessation, longest night and sporting activity are programs people who stop working.
Retirement is good for health
The retreat would be excellent for health, according to the results of a study published in the medical journal Preventative Medicine. This period life favoured a better sleep, more physical activity and even discontinuation of tobacco.
Researchers from the University of Sydney (Australia) studied changes in lives of retirees and published a study that says that these seniors increased their physical activity by 93 minutes per week on average. And that they reduced their downtime of 67minutes.
"A life of major change as the retirement offers an opportunity to make positive changes in life. It is timely to abandon bad habits and the creation of new, healthier habits", commented Dr. Melody Ding, in charge of the study.
Take the time to take care of yourself
During this period, scientists have also observed that seniors slept better and 11 minutes more per day and that they were taking their health in hand. 50% of retired women stop smoking.
"It's a good time for discussion with the doctor on the changes to the lifestyle to lengthen life expectancy", adds Dr. Ding. "These findings show that health professionals and decision makers must consider the development of special programmes to the attention of the pensioners that they are capitalizing on their health throughout the retirement transition".
